The ARC Intervention Prevention’s mission is to help high risk youth and young adult ages 1O – 25 with alternatives to street life through specialized services and street outreach and mentoring program.
The clients served by ARC/CBS span every social-economic and ethnic group. Some are now working productively in our community in many different fields: chef, managers, businesses, social services and serving in the military.
Susan Bechara was the Founder of formerly known as “The House of Hope For Youth Inc. and is currently running a program also known as Comprehensive Behavioral Services LLC. The mission was modeled after the former House of Hope for Youth INC. Susan is committed to the fullest personal and spiritual growth of young people, particularly those who face the greatest barriers of poverty, juvenile delinquency, loneliness, racial discrimination, social injustice or mental and physical handicaps. All clients are welcome, regardless of race, color, creed religion or genders
Her philosophy is rooted in the principle of developing positive relations with the youth that allows them ta face and accept themselves, relate to other, clarify their goals and values, and dare to become the best person that they can be.
Her years of experience working with troubled youth since 1 991 have given her insight and concepts that have been adopted by other surrounding cities, such as Parlier, Reedley, and Kerman. She has volunteered as an Assistant Chaplain at the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus for 20 years, and has served in the Mental Health Board, SARB, and Fresno County Oversight committee member. She has been the recipient of numerous Awards and Honors including being a recipient of Who is Who in the House of Congress. She is also a Certified Mental Health Fist Aid Instructor since 2010, a Certified Conflict Resolution Peace keeping facilitator through the Restorative Justice Model, Intervention prevention Specialist focusing on Gangs , and certified Domestic Violence Counselor.
In closing, she believes that helping the families to heal is in the soul and spirit and responsibility of every parent who brought their children into the world. She believes that the work of healing and restoration takes a long time to transform a person’s thinking. It requires patience and a servant heart. Today, some of her staff and volunteers are now working with her to help maintain the mission and the legacy of the program.
